FoodTech and retail: Davide Canavesio’s vision at TUTTOFOOD Milano 2026

Retail and innovation came together in Milan during TUTTOFOOD Milano 2026, the international event dedicated to the agri-food sector.

Davide Canavesio, President of Blooming Group, joined the event as a speaker, sharing his perspective on the role of ecosystems in the development of European FoodTech startups. The central theme of his speech focused on a key challenge for the sector: startups do not fail because of a lack of ideas, but often because of a lack of context, connections and tools capable of turning innovation into concrete growth.

This perspective reflects Davide Canavesio’s dual experience: as an entrepreneur in food retail with Blooming Group and as an academic researcher studying innovation in FoodTech.

During the event, the dialogue between Thimus, an Italian startup applying neuroscience to food, and La Linea Verde – DimmidiSì provided a concrete example of open innovation between startups and established players in the food supply chain.

For Blooming Group, understanding the direction of food innovation means anticipating the changes that will shape retail, consumption habits and the customer experience.
